Junior DevelopmentThe Ocean Grove Bowling Club wishes to invite Male and Female students between the ages of 12 – 17 years to participate in our Junior Development Program. We are currently involved with local schools and have a program set up that we will work in with the schools and give the students an opportunity to experience what Ocean Grove Bowling Club and Lawn Bowls has to offer. Student who show potential and have an interest in advancing further in the game will have the opportunity to become part of the Ocean Grove Junior Bowls Academy. As members of this Academy you will receive Professional Coaching and Tutoring from our Bowls Coach and Australian Representative Matt Flapper. PennantPRIDE - PASSION - GLORY Saturday PennantOcean Grove Saturday Pennant teams in 2016-17 were unsucessful in adding silverware to the cabinet after two attempts in the grand finals. Premier Division went down by two shots in a very tight final whilst a similiar story unfolded for the Division five side. With a handfull of games to go all eight sides had an opprtunity to make the final four. Division 8 and 9 both reached preliminary final stages. Teams competed in Premier Division, Divsion 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10. Ocean Grove's Premier Division team climbed the mountain to State Champions in 2013 which was a remarkable feat given it was the Club's first Geelong/Ballarat Premier Division Pennant title. Premier Division Pennant will be made up of six clubs from Geelong and four clubs from Ballarat in 2017-18. Division one through to eleven competes against all clubs that make up the Geelong Bowls Region. 2017-18 teams will feature in Premier Division, Div 1,3,4,6,7,8,10.
Midweek PennantThree Premierships were added to the trophy cabinet in our Midweek pennant competition for the 2016-17 season. Ocean Grove have proved their strength in the Midweek Pennant competition with Division Two doubling up to also take the flag. Dominant all year, finals no different they took all before them to take the premiership against Geelong Cement BC. The final flag was our Division four side who were in a similiar situation to the Div One team. Struggling early for form the turn around come and resulted in the third pennant for Ocean Grove. 2017-178will feature teams in Division 1, 1, 3, 3, 6, 7 Ocean Grove welcomes any new bowlers to come along and join in Midweek and Saturday Pennant competition. |
