Community

Ocean Grove Bowling Club offers many benefits to the community;

  • Ocean Grove Bowling Club Houses the OG/BH RSL sub branch (approx. 200 members), Rotary Club, OG/BH Lions Club, Ocean Grove Business Association and the Ocean Grove Community Enterprise aswell as various local Probus clubs;these groups are able to hold their monthly/weekly meetings, Board/committee meetings free of charge at leleans function centre.
  • The level to which these community partnerships can viewed is no more evident than the RSL Monument located at the entrance to our club;
  • Since the completion of our major extension and renovations the clubs overall membership has grown from 3051 in 2009/10 to approximately 5000 in 2010/11 and continues to grow rapidly;
  • Products and services to our community has been expanded considerably because of the diversity we can now provide – with top class gaming facilities, the lounge bar with FOX SPORTS and TAB facilities, exclusive members lounge with views over bowling greens and fully serviced Leleans Restaurant with its own function rooms/facilities etc;
  • The club allocates $30,000.00 per annum to community partnership initiatives including grants to community organisations e.g. Lions Club Food Bank and individual sporting scholarships;
  • The club has established a business grow/business partnership program where local businesses partner with the Club to grow their brand through joint marketing opportunities e.g. signage, links to website, courtesy bus branding, events branding, in-house TV advertising etc. Business partners also automatically become a member of the clubs preferred provider listing;
  • The club owns a courtesy bus which community organisations hire free of charge and where a $1 dollar donation per ride is collected to fund Lions Club youth projects in the region;
  • The club provide a 10% discount on all function and meeting requirements for community groups and in many cases provides access to meeting rooms and the Board Room free of charge;
  • Free Bowls Coaching days are advertised in and around the Club to encouraging first time bowlers to attend the Club and experience the game of bowls, friendship and the hospitality of the Ocean Grove Bowling Club.
  • Community Bowls Days are held each Feb/March and attract local business teams to the Club, many of these first time bowlers later join the Club as full bowling members.
